Amsterdam: Anne Frank Museum

Anne Frank Museum

During the summer, I was flying back to England from Moscow, through Amsterdam. I had a few hours to kill so I decided to into the city. I was in the city pretty early, so I got to experience Amsterdam waking up, without all the tourists.
The city is beautiful, even walking around made me happy. There was something about this new city, where I could go down an alley and get lost and learn more about it, yet there was also something so familiar about it.

One of the things I really wanted to do was visit the Anne Frank Museum, because even though our generation understands what happened, and we can be saddened about it, it doesn't affect us. Visiting the museum was eye-opening.
I decided not to take any photos inside or even of the building outside, because I wanted my followers and readers to try and visit the museum for themselves.

When I first arrived there, I didn't realise that I had to buy tickets in advance online, since the ticket office didn't open until 3pm, so that's something you should keep in mind. Luckily, someone was trying to sell their ticket. I was able to go in and experience the museum. It was heartbreaking. Seeing the books, the documentaries, being in the actual room where they slept and ate and lived for 2 and a bit years. I can't imagine what it was like being in that small attic with 8 people. Not only that, but not being able to move or make any noise so the downstairs office couldn't hear them. Being terrified of suddenly sneezing, and having everyone stand still to see if anyone had heard them. Being so scared constantly.

I am doing it absolutely no justice, I don't want to specifically say or show what is in the museum, I want people to go visit it.

I want people to realise that we have done a lot of progress, just for it to be backtracked again. We don't need to live in a world full of hatred and violence. This world is beautiful, and we need to cherish everyone.

Be kind, and love everyone. ♥

  1. Places of history, whether they remind us of happy times or tragedies; have a unique educational value. People need to visit these museums, as they remind us of our solemn past. Thank you for the short but relevant description of the place, without divulging any ‘spoilers’. Kindly keep posting these excellent blogs.
